Montreal Gateway Terminal's Truckers Appreciation Day

On Wednesday, June 9th, 2010 Montreal Gateway Terminals Partnership (MGT) will hold the 6th annual Truckers' Appreciation Day at Sections 62 and 77. As in previous years, the truck drivers will receive a gift as a token of our appreciation. For the first time in the history of this event, a donation box will be installed for those willing to contribute via a donation to the Mariners' House of Montreal. MGT believes it's essential to support the Mariners' House in any way possible for they provide exceptional assistance to those sailors arriving in the Port of Montreal.

Furthermore, Montreal Gateway Terminals Partnership will match the donations collected during this event.

Welcome one and all

Early truck gate suspension notice
(Section 62) RACINE TERMINAL

Please be advised that due to declining volume amid the economic slowdown we are temporarily suspending our early truck gate hours. Therefore, effective September 28th, 2009 truck gates at (Section 62) Racine Terminal will be open from 8:00 to 16:00 Monday through Friday. Truckers must be in gate by 15h30, in order to be served before terminal closure at 16h00. We considered a range of options but ultimately determined that this course of action would be the least troublesome to the industry.

Rest assured we will continue to closely monitor truck turnaround times to ensure that we keep on providing a high level service. We will reinstate the early gate hours as soon as cargo volume recovers.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Dear All,

As per our notices on our various sites, we are making changes to our gate opening hours. This change has been brought about by diminishing demands for truck services on the 1600 to 2400 hour shift.

We will receive late gate FULL CONTAINERS for cut-off vessels. There will be no charge for these containers; however the respective terminal must be advised prior to 1400 hours.

Other containers, either full or empties delivered or picked up after 1600 hours and whereby the request has been received prior to 1400 hours will carry a charge of $ 100.00

Requests for this additional service must be processed through the respective shipping line, from which we will accept a guarantee of payment.

Please be advised that our truck gate evening hours are as follows:

Monday 06:00 to 16:00, Tuesday to Friday 06:00 to 23:00

After consultation with various stakeholders we have decided to maintain the extended gate hours.

2006/09/22
On July 24th 2006, we advised that the evening shift would be maintained until October 1st, 2006.

Today, we are advising you that the evening shift will be maintained until October 27, 2006 due to continuing repairs to the pavement at the Terminals.

Thus, our usual services will be maintained after 16h00 hours until October 27 2006.

2006/09/21
Please note that effective Monday, September 25th , 2006, Montreal Gateway Terminals (MGT) will be modifying our empty container reception procedures, opening container doors at our gates will no longer be necessary.

Will continue to inspect containers for exterior damages. This modification will contribute to a quicker passage of trucks through our gates. When an empty container arrives at our gates truck drivers will be asked to complete a form outlining the container number, line operator and equipment type, on this form the driver will certify that in compliance to conditions set in the importer's bill of lading; in short: the driver is returning an empty container from an importer's facility exempt of any cargo residues, dunnage packaging etc...

This form will clearly establish that it is the truckers' responsibility to make sure that the returned container is in "ready-to-use" condition and that cleaning costs may be assessed and charged to remedy the situation. Upon printing the Terminal Interchange Receipt (TIR) MGT staff at the counter will supply a seal to the driver; he is expected to seal the empty container before entering the terminal. Our gate checker will report the seal number and inspect the container for any visible exterior damages.

In the event that upon delivery of a sealed empty container it is determined that it is not in a "ready-to-use" condition we will segregate the unfit containers, advise the delinquent trucker and clean the container. Cleaning costs will be assessed and charged as warranted

2006/07/26
On June 30th 2006, we announced the suspension of the evening shift in the Trucking department starting on August 1st, 2006.

Today,we are advising you that the evening shift will be maintained until October 1st, 2006 due to the fact that repairs to the pavement at the Terminals will affect the traffic flow over the next couple of months.

Thus, our usual services will be maintained after 16h00 hours until October 1st, 2006.

2006/06/30
On April 25th 2005, Cast and Racine Terminals introduced a program that extended truck gate hours to 23h00. The main objective of this initiative was to provide the opportunity to importers and exporters to move their containers during off-peak daytime hours when the Port and local roadways and normally less congested.

It has now been a little over one year since the introduction of the extended gate hours and disappointingly the level of activity is significantly below what is necessary to sustain this service. Consequently, effective August 1, 2006 we will no longer continue to keep our truck gates open after 16h00.

Our gates will be open Monday to Friday from 06h00 to 16h00.

Rest assured we will continue to monitor truck turn around time to ensure that we continue to provide the trucking community with the high level of service that you have become accustomed to.

2006/05/01
Effective May 1st, 2006, from 16:00 hrs until midnight, all Montreal Gateway Terminals interchange receipts (TIRs) will be processed at Section 77, Port of Montreal (Cast Terminal).

TIRs will no longer be processed at Section 62, Port of Montreal (Racine Terminal) after 16:00 hrs. Please advise your drivers accordingly.

Once the TIR has been completed, the driver will no longer need to present himself at Section 62 Trucking Department. He will immediately proceed through to the gate verification process.

Container Information: Automated Voice Response System starting Octobe31,2005

For your convenience, Montreal Gateway Terminals recently implemented a new comprehensive Automated Voice Response System (AVRS) that will assist you in obtaining up-to-date container status information.

The AVRS will complement our widely used Net/gate solution (a web based information application found at http://www.mtrtml.com/

The AVRS is available to answer your call in both English and French, 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. You can access the AVRS from a touch-tone phone at: (514) 257-7989

This new AVRS will allow customers to quickly and accurately obtain real-time information relative to import container availability at either Cast or Racine terminal.
